Scott Slay and The Rail is a fusion of Jamgrass and Americana music from Denver, Colorado.
The five piece group combines bluegrass, country, folk, and traditional compositions to produce a modern sound. This powerhouse of a group was founded by Scott Slay in 2015 and centers around both real and make-believe experiences, finding influence from groups like The Punch Brothers, Nickel Creek, The Lonesome River Band, Mountain Heart, Sam Bush, Dead & Company, Leftover Salmon, and more. Subject matters are tragic, joyful and inexhaustible.
Scott Slay and The Rail was humbled to be featured at the RockyGrass and Telluride Bluegrass Festivals in 2018. Slay was also featured as an artist in residence with famed banjoist and Lonesome River Band frontman Sammy Shelor as part of the group Big Virginia Sky, which was invited to perform at the 2015 IBMA Wide Open Bluegrass Festival in Raleigh, NC. Scott was awarded 2nd place Guitar and Mandolin respectively at the 2018 RockyGrass Instrumental competition.
